2024
In this project case study, I will be sharing my experience designing a niche travel guide to sushi restaurants in Leeds, targeted at a specific user. The project involved producing an A3 leaflet and an accompanying app prototype.
While designing, I concentrated on exciting the user and making them want to explore sushi locations as well as keeping the deliverables visually consistent and engaging.
Process
Understanding User Preferences
The design process began with comprehensive user research, in the form of an in-depth interview, to determine the user's wants and needs for the travel guide.
Determining Guide Contents
Based on the insights gathered from the initial interview, I decided on the contents of the leaflet and app. This included the information for the different sushi restaurants available in Leeds and details on the various types of sushi available at each location.
Ensuring Seamless Usability
A major focus was on ensuring that the user could seamlessly use the leaflet and app. In both deliverables, I included various usability features, influenced by user testing, such as multiple ways to access one page in the app, making it easy for users to navigate and find the information they need.
Outcome
The final outcome of the sushi travel guide was a user-friendly and engaging product that the user found enjoyable and exciting.
Working with the user throughout the project ensured that the outcomes contained all the necessary information and functions the user needed.
The user found the leaflet and app both met and exceeded their needs. They mentioned both outcomes complimented the other and made them excited to use the guide.
