2024
For this project, I created the brand identity and various promotional materials for a new Leeds-based local history centre. The goal was to develop an engaging and contemporary brand identity by merging modern interactive elements with compelling historical content.
Throughout the design process, I focused on using typography and contrasting colours to grab attention and communicate the purpose of the centre to potential visitors.
Process
Breaking down the project
The design process for Allus involved several key stages. Firstly, I conducted extensive research into Leeds's history and key facts, including both well-known and niche information.
Building on strong foundations
Based on this research, I created many design iterations for the branding and promotional materials that included strong links to the history of Leeds. Using this iterative process created a larger variety of ideas and produced stronger results that related to the centre's need for unique and impactful branding.
Reviews and evaluations
Throughout the process, I reviewed my work against the brief. I also conducted short interviews with people from the target market to evaluate how successful my designs were in eliciting excitement and intrigue.
Outcome
The final outcomes include the branding for the centre as well as a typographic bus stop advert, two abstract posters and a social media GIF.
Final evaluations with target customers revealed that the branding represented Leeds well and made them interested in the centre.
Overall, the new branding was successful in making potential customers want to visit the new centre, with final interviews showing the colour scheme and bold shapes to be the most important factors in creating this excitement.
